A Taste For Fun

We’re always looking out for opportunities to have a good time.

Especially if it embarrasses the kids in public!

Now that we’ve moved into town and are within walking and riding distance of just about everything, we have begun to take advantage of the large number of community events in West Lafayette and Lafayette.  This past weekend we attended our first Taste of Tippecanoe.

The music was incredible on every stage, and the family fun on our side of the Wabash included none other than the kids of Team 461, the West Lafayette High School Boiler Invasion Robotics Team.  Kira and Mark took their turns helping run the booth, which allowed kids to learn about robots and actually drive the 2007 robot.

Emma chose her favorite Pad Thai from Basil Thai.  We’ve eaten there ever since they opened down on campus a few years back, and we’re very excited that they are opening a more upscale restaurant called Thai Essence within walking distance of our house.

The new grill we bought Joe for Father’s Day suddenly paled in comparison to the one that McGraw’s Steak & Chop House brought.  But if I can duplicate their Jack Daniels marinade sirloin tips at home, it might smooth things over again.

Now we’re set to have fun at this weekend’s Indiana Fiddler’s Gathering, and July’s Dancing in the Streets event.
